THE STORY BEHIND THE SOUND
A world built around feeling.
Guy Gerber’s career offers a perspective on the value of creative independence. Across productions, extended musical journeys and the RUMORS concept, he has developed a world with a recognisable sense of atmosphere. His work invites listeners to stay curious about what a dancefloor can feel like.
An individual musical language
The Israeli artist’s influences reach beyond club music to bands including Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. That background helps explain the emotional and textural qualities associated with his productions.
Releases such as Stoppage Time and Sea of Sand form part of a catalogue that connects his work to established electronic labels including Bedrock and Cocoon. His own Supplement Facts label provided another avenue for musical exploration.
Composing a complete journey
For fabric 64, Gerber created sixteen new tracks, including collaborations, to construct a continuous musical story. The release brought composition and DJ sequencing into the same project, with material made specifically for the mix.
It is a revealing example of his artistic approach: the relationship between pieces matters as much as an individual track. Changes in harmony, pacing and texture become part of a larger emotional experience.
The world of RUMORS
In 2014, Gerber introduced a RUMORS residency in Ibiza. In an interview at the time, he described a daytime concept built around surprise, an outdoor setting and a broader experience that included a market supporting emerging artists and designers.
This is the entrepreneurial side of his creative work. An event gives an artist the opportunity to shape the setting, the atmosphere and the ways people encounter music. RUMORS brought those choices into one concept.
